Our practice has been providing comprehensive medical care to members of our community since 1984.

Our Team:
Here at Petrie Family Medical Practice, our team is committed to ensuring that you receive the best care possible, which is why all of our staff members are highly experienced in the medical environment.

Our highly experienced nurses work at the direction of the Doctors at the Centre and will assist in providing comprehensive coordinated healthcare services.

Practice Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 8.00 – 18:00
Appointments available from 8:30 – 12:30 and 14:00 – 18:00
Friday: 8:00 – 17:00
Appointments available from 8:30 – 12:30 and 14:00 – 17:00
Saturday: 08:00 – 11:00
Appointments available all morning if scheduled in advance. All Saturday appointments are "On the day" appointments only and cannot be scheduled in advance.

Appointments:
If you would like to schedule an appointment, please contact us on 07 3285 6572.
Our standard appointments last for 10 minutes, if you think you need more time with one of our doctors please advise reception staff of this. You can learn more about what qualifies as a long appointment by clicking here.

Where possible, we will always try to ensure that we can find a suitable appointment time with your preferred doctor. Please be aware that emergencies will be given priority, if this situation should occur when you are scheduled to attend the practice, our staff will ensure every effort is made to contact you.
Saturday clinics are reserved for patients who require assistance with acute medical conditions or emergency appointments, if you need to see your doctor for a routine appointment it is preferable that this is scheduled for a week day due to ensure our doctors are available to assist those in need or urgent medical attention. 

Cancellations:
Due to a high demand of appointments at Petrie Family Practice, we currently have a cancellation policy in place. If you are unable to attend your appointment for any reason we ask that you contact the practice a minimum of two hours before the appointment time.  We are consistently heavily booked and missed appointments may deprive another patient of an appointment. For this reason a fee does apply for missed appointments. An Interpreter Service is available if required. 

After hours arrangements:
This practice employs the Home Doctors Service to provide after hours care when this surgery is closed. Please telephone 13 SICK (13 7425).

Information you supply:
To ensure optimal patient care, we request that you inform us of your cultural background.
In addition, any changes to your personal information such as change of contact or medicare details, change of address or emergency contact should be brought to our attention. 

Results:
When this surgery receives significant abnormal test results, our staff will contact you to arrange a follow up appointment. Patients are encouraged to contact the surgery for results of all investigations. Your enquiry will lead to a reassurance that results were as expected or of a course of action that the doctor has indicated.

Repeat Prescriptions:
Repeat prescriptions are available with 24 hours notice on routine medications that have been prescribed in the preceding 3 months at the discretion of the treating doctor. A $5.00 fee for each item applies to this service. Referrals to specialists cannot be written without a consultation.

Home visit:
Home visits, within reasonable distance, are available for regular patients whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery. Please contact the surgery for further information.

Your rights:
If you have a problem, we would like to hear about it. Please feel free to talk to your doctor or receptionist. You may prefer to write to us or use our suggestion box. We take your compliments, concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously. However, if you wish to take the matter further and feel that you need to discuss the matter outside of the surgery, please phone the Office of the Health Ombudsman on 133 464 or go to their website to find out more.
