Our standard appointments last for 10 minutes. If you think you need more time with one of our doctors, please advise reception staff of this.
Where possible, we will always try to ensure that we can find a suitable appointment time with your preferred doctor. Please be aware that emergencies will be given priority. If this situation should occur when you are scheduled to attend the practice, our staff will ensure every effort is made to contact you.
Saturday clinics are reserved for patients who require assistance with acute medical conditions or emergency appointments. If you need to see your doctor for a routine appointment, it is preferable that this is scheduled for a weekday to ensure our doctors are available to assist those in need of urgent medical attention.
An Interpreter Service is available if required.
Here at Petrie Family Medical Practice, our team is committed to ensuring that you receive the best care possible, which is why all of our staff members are highly experienced in the medical environment.
Our highly experienced nurses work at the direction of the doctors at the centre and will assist in providing comprehensive coordinated healthcare services.

Information You Supply
To ensure optimal patient care, we request that you inform us of your cultural background. In addition, any changes to your personal information such as change of contact or medicare details, change of address or emergency contact should be brought to our attention.
Due to a high demand for appointments at Petrie Family Medical Practice, we currently have a cancellation policy in place. If you are unable to attend your appointment for any reason, we ask that you contact the practice a minimum of two hours before the appointment time. We are consistently heavily booked and missed appointments may deprive another patient of an appointment. For this reason a fee does apply for missed appointments.
If the results received are marked as no-action, our practice will not contact you. Our practice will contact you to book an appointment if the results checked by the doctors are marked for follow up appointment required.
Repeat Prescriptions and Referrals
Repeat prescriptions are available with 24 hours notice on routine medications that have been prescribed in the preceding 3 months at the discretion of the treating doctor. A $5.00 fee for each item applies to this service.
Ongoing referrals to specials may be written again at the discretion of the treating doctor with an associated cost of $20. New condition referrals to specialists will not be written without consultation.
Home visits and nursing home visits are available within reasonable distance, at the discretion of the treating doctor. They are available to regular patients whose condition prevents them from attending the practice.
You can contact the practice by calling us during surgery hours. Our staff are unable to give clinical information, including results, over the phone. All calls are made and received strictly within surgery hours. All calls are answered by either the reception or nursing team from the reception desk.
Telephone calls from patients will not be put through to our doctors. Our reception staff are happy to take messages or assist you with any general questions regarding your healthcare. If you have a medical question after seeing your doctor, our nurse may be able to assist, however, should this query not be resolved, you will need to arrange a subsequent consultation with your doctor.
Should a general message be conveyed from reception to a doctor on your behalf, please allow up to five business days for a response. If you have an urgent medical problem that is life threatening or serious, you will be put through to our nurse and triaged accordingly. Dial 000 for immediate emergency care.
